Code of Conduct
The Aliaxis UK Purchasing Department recognises that the highest practicable safety, ethical and environmental standards are vital to the Company’s success in building value, and are a key responsibility of all our employees and suppliers.
Safety:
Safety at work remains a key priority. Like all parts of Aliaxis the Purchasing Department is committed to the protection and safety of employees and others affected by our business operations. An accident and harm-free workplace is our objective and we will ensure that such a philosophy is sensibly communicated to and shared by our suppliers.
Environment:
The Purchasing Department recognises society's right to expect industry to exercise the highest practicable level of environmental care. The Aliaxis UK Purchasing Department aims to minimise any adverse effects its activities may have on the environment.
Global social responsibility:
As Aliaxis expands its sourcing from around the world we are aware that we will be procuring from regions with different social and cultural backgrounds. With this in mind we aim to purchase in a socially responsible manner and strive to ensure that we purchase from suppliers that have good records and standards of health and safety, environmental performance, employment conditions and do not engage in child labour.
People:
The UK Purchasing Department supports Aliaxis’s commitment to provide equal opportunities for its employees and creating a culture that recognises team and individual performance, values innovation and continuous improvement, and empowers and encourages individual responsibility.
Purchasing methods:
Whilst optimising purchase opportunities the UK Purchasing Department adheres to the following principles:
- Professional Standards – At all times the highest possible standards of professional competence and ethical behaviour will be adopted whilst maintaining the utmost integrity in all of our business relationships, both internally and external to the Business, and rejecting any business practice which might reasonably be deemed illegal, improper or unethical.
- Declaration of interest - any personal interest which may affect or be seen by others to affect a member's impartiality in any matter relevant to his or her duties will be rejected.
- Confidentiality and accuracy of information - the confidentiality of information received in the course of our duties should be respected and will never be used for personal gain or generally passed on to competitors.
- Competition - the nature and length of contracts and business relationships with suppliers can vary according to circumstances. These should always be constructed to ensure deliverables and benefits to the Business. Arrangements which might in the long term prevent the effective operation of fair competition will be avoided.
- Business gifts - business gifts, other than items of minimal intrinsic value should not be accepted.
- Hospitality - the recipient should not allow him or herself to be influenced or be perceived by others to have been influenced in making a business decision as a consequence of accepting hospitality. The frequency and scale of hospitality accepted should be managed openly and with care.
